Artist's Comments

I'm posting this to ~Mask-Making-Artisans the mask-making community I've created and am moderated of.

This mask is made using a layered paper technique. It is decorated with real sea shells, star fish, and freshwater pearls. The fins are fabric and wire, very durable. The seashells have been coated with an iridescent blue gloss. The mask has been sealed in with a protective glossy varnish, the shells, too. The backside of the mask is finished in a soft suede-like fabric and a matching trim. At the bottom of the fins there is a string of fake pearls that is double looped from end to end, for decoration.

More photos of the mask, including detailed shots up-close, can be seen here: [link]

This mask is currently for sale.
Can be used with a costume, for a ritual, altar use, decoration, etc.

Thank you, I felt it was better than showing multiple shots of it. I'm still not 100% happy with my photos of this mask...I've still got it, so I can keep taking pics. of it 'till I'm happy I suppose...:D

*grinning and chuckling* You've been great with the encouragement, I just wanted you to know that -thank you:D

Today is a good day, I may go out today and give it another go...we'll see.

The fins are really cool, I think I'd be lost without the crinkled lame' fabric, that stuff is awesome!:) I'm looking forward to using smooth lame' for Faery wings on another mask at some point.

I have SO many mask projects planned..it's ridiculous! I want to do a Pheonix soon and then a Dragon, and I've thought about a Fairy.
But right now, I've got an Egyptian mask commission to get to work on, plus I want to make an Isis mask as a gift for a friend of mine (thankfully she's unaware of this, so I can take my time on it!:D) Plus, I still have this Peacock mask to finish up on.
-ACK! :D

It's very impressive, it would be interesting to see how it looks when someone's wearing it (to see them talking I mean) :)
:iconjanes-wardrobe:
you're very welcome :D I had NO idea those fins were crinkle lame! (I still love them!)

Lets hope you're friend doesn't watch all your comings and goings on DA ;)

I'm really pleased you've found the things I've said helpful  it would have been so easy for you to take offence - it's so difficult to hear intonation with the written word. :D

Keep up the great work.
