Commissioned Phoenix Mask by EMasqueradeGallery Commissioned Phoenix Mask by EMasqueradeGallery
This is the second Phoenix mask I've made. It was a commission for a customer who found my masks through a google search. It was a birthday present to her mother.:)

Was made in March of 2008.

Sold for $150.00

Incredible! What medium do you use to sculpt the masks, and what paint finishes do you apply?

Thank you! I actually use Craft Porcelain air-dry clay for my masks and a variety of acrylic paints...mainly LUMIERE by Jacquard's acrylyics.

I've recently started using enamel paints and Precious Metal Colour paints, too.

Another gorgeous mask.. I would am itching to try something like that with leather. I have some foil sitting around but haven't been brave enough to try and apply it ;)

After that first try I've given up on the foils for something like this. From now I'm just working with the liquid metal foils -those are so much easier and tidier to work with.:)

I'd love to see you do a Phoenix mask in leather -that would be awesome!!:)

Yeah -I get mine at Michael's from a brand called 'Liquid Leaf' by Plaid. I don't know how this stuff might react to leather. I know that it melts plastic, though and absolutely ruins paint brushes.:/

I love the detail above the beak, and all the gold tips on the feathers. Gah, I just love all the detail you put into your masks! And I'm so happy you're posting things :D

Thank you so much! I love detailed foil stuff and wanted to add those into something.:)

-The new adds are older items, but I hope to be adding some new masks to my gallery before too much longer.:)

Beautiful, I love the overlaying textures of the feathers, and their unique fire-like sheen. The customer and her mother must be quite happy with it:)

Thank you! And I sure hope they are. Never heard back from either. From what I understand, the mask wasn't going to be worn but hung on the wall. It's sad to me that it won't be worn, but I understand that masked events are hard to come by and not everyone has an interest in attending one. So having it hung on the wall as decoration is fine, too:D
Heck...some of my masks just hang on my wall. No where to wear them to.:(

Thanks! I don't like my masks to look exactly like eachother, even when they are reproductions of an original, so it's nice to add some different elements.:)
-That, and sometimes I don't have the same materials that I had for the first mask. Got to improvise then! ;D
